How to care for your down jacket?

Down jackets are popular every winter season. They’re soft, elastic and warm, they also ensure optimal body temperature. Valuable down features waterproof and windproof properties, it’s lighter than feathers and provides higher level of comfort. If you own jackets filled with goose down read below and find out how to take care of them. Wash, dry and store the clothes in a proper way and use them for a longer period of time.

Before washing clothes, read the instructions given on the label. It is usually placed on the inside part of the jacket or attached to the product.If you want to keep your down jacket in a good form for at least a few seasons, treat it carefully. Before washing, make sure that all pockets are empty and zips are fastened. Remove belts, linings and all possible accessories. Choose hand washing cycle or a cycle for delicate fabrics available in your washing machine. Maximum water temperature: 40°C, always use proper detergents, avoid using fabric softeners and rinse the clothes carefully (even 2 or 3 times), you can spin it slowly.

Down jackets can be dried in electric driers, maximum temperature: 40°C. If you decide to dry your clothes in a traditional way, always avoid placing wet jackets on a warm radiator or in the Sun. Dry them in a horizontal position and make sure that the down is evenly distributed. Fluff the jacket a few times.
