The history of Aeronautica Militare – pants and other stylish garments

Aeronautica Militare was born in Italian city of Thiene and is an effect of the evolution of tailoring after WWII. The founder of the brand, Cristiano Sperotto became an expert in the manufacture of high quality leather clothing in the 60s. As time went by he tracked the latest trends, creating collections which combine streetwear with high fashion as a result. Distinctive printing, emblems and original Aeronautica Militare Frecce Tricolori logo emphasize unique, Italian design. Aeronautica Militare has been referring to military apparel since the beggining. Their products were so good that the brand signed an agreement with Italian Air Force which allows it to use original army patches in their products. Selection of emblems is not random: each of them has a history.

2° Gruppo is a part of the Air Force responsible for transport. Original coats of arms of this brigade depicted the Lyra constellation but it was changed - today it’s the number 2 on a blue background. The equipment of 2° Gruppo has also been upgraded. Since 2005 the brigade uses the Aeritalia G.222 aircraft. Because of the black and white circles on these machines, they are often referred to as “pandas”.

15° Stormo is a unit which fullfils a very important role. Soldiers of the 15° Stormo provide security, search for the people missing at sea and in the mountains, transport victims of car accidents. 15° Stormo operates under international Search and Rescue program. Each Search and Rescue facility has an aircraft ready to fly all year round at its disposal.

50° Stormo also referred to as “black panthers” is a unit responsible for electronic combat and protecting the military database. 50° Stormo soldiers use the ECR Tornado aricrafts which are used for reconnaissance.

36° Stormo landed in history books as a brigade of heroes of WWII. It’s the exemplary part of the Italian Air Force. Because of the location of the Gioia del Colle base, 36° Stormo has a crucial task - it protects the Southern Europe.

Members of 6° Stormo are often called “the Red Devils”. The imperishable glory of this unit was earned in the 50’s when it presented stunning aerobatic maneuvers for the first time. Thanks to shows in Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium or the US, 6° Stormo pilots are said to be the best.

4° Stormo has been existing for over 90 years now. It’s soldiers have proven to be brave and restless, that’s why their coat of arms features a horse, wild and spirited. This symbol represents the brigade up to this day.

46A Brigata Aerea is a historic unit which stands for professionalism, refinement and elegance. Since 1956 this brigade carries out transport and takes part in all the missions, inland and abroad, delivering ammunition, medication and food. They have technologically advanced aircraft at their disposal:C- 130J Hercules II and C- 27J Spartan. Ready for action 24/7 all year round.

A.W.T.I. is a unit specialized in marksmanship. Their base is located in Sardinia. Moreover, A.W.T.I. is obliged to carry out rescue missions. Mobility and efficiency of these soldiers is so impressive that their coat of arms depicts Speedy Gonzales. Every action coordinated by the A.W.T.I. begins 15 minutes after the notification came in (at the latest!)
