Iconic beachwear
Vilebrequin is as exceptional and puckish as its creator. Fred Prysquel was a journalist who described car racing, one day he managed to change the image of men's beachwear. What was his inspiration? Love! In 1971 Prysquel came to the coast of France where he met a beautiful woman and fell in love. He wanted to attract her attention and took a few souvenirs from his travels; colorful fabrics, two pairs of scissors, his interest in tailoring and head full of ideas. Vilebrequin sew modern and incredibly colorful swimming trunks inspired by the style of American surfers. He didn’t expect that his designs would achieve such a success. He did not only win the heart of beloved woman but also charmed a group of admirers. His brand quickly achieved international success and became recognizable. Shortly after his spontaneous debut, Prysquel opened his first clothes boutique. To achieve full success he needed only a name. He picked Vilebrequin which is not a random name; Prysquel was for years involved in car industry. He paid special attention to technology novelties and car parts. Vilebrequin in French means... crankshaft.
