APL was founded in March 2009 in Los Angeles by twins Adam and Ryan Goldston. Both founders were NCAA Division I basketball players at the University of Southern California, giving them a unique insight into performance needs in sports. From the very beginning, APL aimed to create technologically advanced athletic footwear that not only enhances performance but also combines functionality with luxurious design. A pivotal moment in the brand's history was the introduction of the Concept 1 shoes in 2010 with the "Load ‘N Launch" technology, which were banned by the NBA for providing an "unfair competitive advantage."
