Inspired by the love for travelling
Opening Ceremony was set up in 2002 by two friends from UC Barkeley. Their passion for travelling, art and fashion is reflected in their project. Carol Lim and Humberto Leon got inspired by their trip to Hongkong and decided to give up on their jobs in corporations. They opened a small shop in New York that gave rise to a huge chain of stores in New York, Los Angeles, fashion house in Tokyo, showroom and online stores. Opening Ceremony has an international attitude to business. They collaborate with fashion designers and turn their salons into souvenir markets and places where young talents from all over the world can show their abilities. Brand puts emphasis on teamwork and creativity that goes beyond the world of fashion. Opening Ceremony collaborates with such brands as Rodarte, Topshop, Pendleton and Maison Martin Margiela or Spike Jonze, Terence Koh and Chloë Sevigny. In 2011 Carol and Humberto became creative directors of Kenzo where they started a new chapter in the world of fashion.
